Burundi Primus League returned on Saturday with four Fixtures taking place across various fields in Burundi .Magara Young Boys hosted BS Dynamik at Stade Urunani as Inter Star hosted Kayanza United . Top Junior were the host at Stadium NPPC as Rukinzo FC visited Muyinga .
Rukinzo went into the match as favorites after three consecutive draws in Burundi Premier League that had denied them a chance of moving to the summit of Burundi Premier League , heading into the match ,Rukinzo were one point behind two teams Aigle Noir and Bumamuru Football club.
Top Junior went into the match on a back of 3-1 defeat at Bujumbura City ,Top junior manager Godefroid Okoko Lokondo made no change from the squad that was humiliated in the capital city . Rukinzo FC head Coach Edouard Nahimana made one change from the Inter Star draw last weekend with Alain Icoyitungiye starting in place of Lionel Dushime .
Stade NPPC hosted hundreds of people coming from the Villages of Muyinga to rally support behind Top Junior . The match started with high intensity as soon as Centre referee Steve Nizigiyimana blew the whistle. Franck Barirengako came close to breaking the dead lock in the 15th minute after a mistake from Rukinzo FC goalkeeper Yvan Rugumandiye but his shot was cleared off the line by defender and captain Junior Kavumbagu .
Rukinzo FC controlled the match for better part of the first half with Amissi Nizigiyimana and Edison Munaba combining well at the midfield to keep at bay Top Junior Fc midfield duo of Christian Hakizamana and Isaie Niyukuri . Despite controlling possession ,luck was not on Rukinzo FC side as the first half ended in a barren draw.
The second half started immediately with Rukinzo FC doing a rare goalkeeper change as Yvan Rugumandiye made way for veteran goalkeeper Epimaque Nzoyisaba .The half started with fireworks as Inter Yannick Hutungimana hit the crossbar twice inside two minutes .
Patient Muhuza exchanged passes inside the penalty box but a bad tackle from Saidi Ndayishimiye gifted Top Junior a penalty in the 69th minute . Danny Ndikumana stood to the occasion and sent Top junior goalkeeper Igor Ishimwe the opposite direction to give Rukinzo FC the lead . Minutes later ,Alain Icoyitungiye broke from the midfield with a fine ball before laying it to Blaise Habimana to set up Edison Munaba for the second goal .
The north stand at NPPC was sent to roars as Rukinzo FC fans celebrated together with the players .Top Junior had no clear chance in the second half as the match ended two nil in favour of Rukinzo FC.
The win takes Rukinzo FC to the first position in Burundi Premier League,one ahead of Aigle Noir and Bumamuru Fc clash on Sunday . The last time Rukinzo FC were top of the Burundi Premier League table,Aigoir Noir who the Championship.
The win also breaks Rukinzo FC run of three consecutive matches without keeping a clean sheet.
