The Burundi Ligue A, also called Burundi Primus Ligue, is the highest division.The league was formed in 1972.
It has 16 teams that play 30 rounds home and away.The top team at the end of the season gets promoted to the CAF Champions League (Qualification Stage) while the bottom three teams get relegated to the 2nd division,the Primus National league, and three more promoted.
