CALVARY FC 1-2 NEC FC
Calvary fc fell to an opening-day defeat at Midigo primary school grounds, as Dudu Bosco’s first competitive match ended in a 2-1 reverse against NEC FC in the Fufa Big League.
Kilama Dickens was handed the game’s first real chance after just six minutes. Norman Brown found space inside the penalty area, before his blocked cross fell kindly to Calvary no.8, who unfortunately blazed over.
Wiclif Lusheda then almost topped off a superb flowing counter-attack with Dudu Bosco’s side beginning to edge the early stages.Norman Brown, Ochen Emmanuel and Wiclif Lusheda were all involved in the swift move, with the goal bound strike easily collected by Wokorach Jeans
Emmanuel Ochen then gave the home team the lead with only 18minutes gone in the second half, as the stylish winger tapped home from inside the area, following Norman Brown’s square pass across the six-yard box.
As the second half goal break unfolded, the horizon stars began proceedings in brighter fashion, as Norman Brown lashed his left-footed effort just wide of the net. Crisp Brain was introduced shortly after, as Dudu looked to fashion a way for his side to get more goals into the game.
Wakorach then denied Brain Crisp as the game entered the final half hour.
Afema crossed dangerously, with Brain Crisp, once again, found in acres of space but the former Onduparaka player failed to hit the target.
However, with just over 20 minutes to go, the lead was leveled , as a Derrick’s swift delivery was eventually turned into a goal by the captain Kavuma Marvin, as M16 rose once more in an attempt to spur on Dudu’s men. he completed his brace at in extra time making it 1-2.
As the game edged on, Joel Jangayembe looked to carve open opportunities from a deeper role, with NEC FC side defending resolutely throughout to record their first win at Midigo play grounds.
Despite the Horizon’s best intentions, it was to NEC FC who departed Midigo with all three points, as Calvary 2022/23 campaign began with defeat.
