The Prairie du Sac Mustangs took 2 out of 3 games from the Elsing Kings at Selwood Park on Sunday, May 30th.
Morgen Griffin scored 29 in the opening game for the Mustangs, coupled with double-doubles from Isaac Mazanka and Jake Buckles. Newly acquired King Jakob Wilson scored 20 for Elsing, but it wasn't enough as the Mustangs took Game 1, 50-43.
In Game 2, M&M finally lived up to the offensive firepower it expected with the offseason acquisition of Maz, as the duo went off for 48, the highest they've combined for since becoming teammates. Mazanka led all scores with 29 (5-13 3pt) and Griffin poured in 19. Wilson again put the team on his back, scoring 17 for Elsing, but it wasn't close from the start as PDS routed the Kings 51-26.
The Kings salvaged the last game of the series in what turned out to the offensive show of the day. Wilson had 25 for Elsing to go along with 9 rebounds, Wyatt Gibbs added 12 points with 4 3-pointers, and Brad Payne had 15 with the game-winner. Maz had 31 for Prairie du Sac but it wasn't enough as the Kings avoided the sweep and beat the Mustangs 52-46.
