The Snoball tournament will follow the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) rules unless specifically specified below.
NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES may be brought into South Park unless a shelter is rented and an alcohol permit obtained. Violators will be ejected from the tournament and possibly detained by the police. (The Police will be checking!)
Rosters/Waivers:
The maximum roster size is 20. Players must be at least 18 years old to participate. A player can only be on one roster per team type. i.e., a male player can be on a Senior, Men’s and Co-ed roster. The rosters will be kept at the field so players can sign in when they show up. Once a player signs a roster their name cannot be removed.
General Rules: (Umpire’s rulings are final, no protests)
- Most if not all games will be at the Fairgrounds (Oval).
- 7-inning games.
- 2-1 starting count, no courtesy foul.
- A mat will be used for balls/strikes (the mat and plate are strikes).
- 60-minute time limit (No new inning can begin after the 55-minute mark. Teams may complete the inning they are in.).
- Teams MUST be ready to play 30 minutes prior to their scheduled start time. Games will start 5 minutes after the previous game ends – No on-field warm-ups.

- The pitch arc will be 6-10 feet from the ground.
- A team can bat 9, 10, 11 (1-EH, except Senior) or 12 (2-EHs, 1-EH for Senior) batters. If a team starts with 9 the tenth spot is NOT an out and the 10th player can be added at any time. Note Co-Ed exceptions.
- Unlimited courtesy runners for INJURED runners only (last batter not on base).
- BATS WILL BE SUPPLIED BY THE TOURNAMENT.
- All batted balls (Fair) are “All you can get” w/ the exceptions of: o 100 Acre: Balls hit into the right field woods at 100 Acre to the Right of the shed are a double, ground or fly. Format:
The Snoball tournament will consist of Pool play on Saturday followed by Bracket play on Sunday. The seeding will be done by Pool record with the tie breakers being: 1. Head-to-head, 2. Total run differential and 3. Coin flip.
Co-ed:
A Co-ed team can play with 9, 10 or 12 players. The 10-player line-up is 5 Women and 5 Men, the 12-player line-up is 6 Women and 6 Men (exception below). The batting order must alternate male and female players. Two extra-hitter (EH) positions can be used and must follow the alternating (male, female) order. When a game is started using two EH positions, you must finish the game with two EH positions. If a team using the EH drops below the required initial twelve (12) players during the game, an out will be recorded for the batting position when the missing player’s turn comes to bat. A team will be allowed to bat two (2) or more female players in a row.
Nine Players: When less than ten players are used (i.e. 9 players), the odd player, if male, shall alternate with another male player in the batting order for batting purposes only (i.e. 8 position batting order). The players alternating must use the same position in the batting order for the entire game.
Four Women: Option 1: If a team only has four women they can field 10 but only bat 8 players. Four of the men will share 2 of the batting spots, alternating at bats. The players alternating must use the same position in the batting order for the entire game. Option 2: All players bat with an alternating male/female order. The male players will be locked in the 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, & 11 lineup positions and the female players will bat in the 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, & 12 lineup positions w/ female players batting in the same order w/r to other female players – See Tournament directors for clarification.
Fielding Restrictions: Each team must field a minimum of four (4) females, NOT including catcher. The four (4) females may be in any of the 9 infield/outfield positions.
If a Male batter is walked the he is awarded 2nd base and any players on base move forward 2 bases.
A courtesy runner must be the same sex as the INJURED runner they replace.
Senior:
To be eligible to play in the Senior division a player MUST be at least 50 years old prior to 2021. A Senior team can field 11 defensive players, i.e. 5-man infield. Also, curtesy runners can be used for any player – they do not have to be injured and the curtesy runner does not have to be the last batted out.
Unsportsmanlike Conduct:
Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated (fake tags, sliding with the intention to injure another player, running into another player, vulgar language, any attempt to injure another player, etc). The umpire will determine how flagrant and how much intent was committed by the action(s). The umpire can eject offender(s) from the game.
South Park Rules and Regulations:
All teams, players, coaches and spectators must adhere to the Rules and Regulations for South Park.
