Meat’s Top Prospects

Hello to everyone in the FIBA community! If you’re active in the discord, you probably have seen me playing combines and hounding Season 2 Combine players to get their games in. If you don’t know who I am, I am xEatLessMeat, and I used to do media for a few Pro-Am Leagues throughout 2K22 and the beginning of 2K23 before I took a break from all of that. But now that my back is hurting from carrying so many combine teams, I decided to sit down and start writing again.

With that, I will be posting write-ups throughout this week that highlight some of the players who I think are the top prospects in this upcoming draft, and each day, I will celebrate the top 2-3 combine performers from that day’s games. Hopefully this will work to encourage those of you who have neglected to complete your required combine games thus far.

And as always, I must preface my media by saying that none of the opinions expressed reflect the opinions of FIBA and league management. These takes are entirely my own, and I’m sure you will disagree. Sometimes I will make a post that is purely bulletin board / whiteboard material to fire up players, and sometimes I will try to create beef for the sake of entertainment. So please, don’t take any of this too seriously, but please fight hard to be recognized by me each day, each week, and each month.

Meat’s Top Guards

Today, I will be recognizing the top backcourt players who I have noticed the most out of everyone throughout these combines. I have a list of 10 that I will release throughout the day, along with some honorable mentions. If you hate what I’m writing, feel free to react negatively, DMs me, or get visibly upset in the general chat. And if you get recognized, please let it go to your head.

1. Rainy

Though he is a newcomer to this league, Rainy quickly showed why he has found success on the competitive scene. In his first combine game, Rainy racked up 42 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals, and Rainy’s teams won each combine by at least 15 points. For any GM who is not planning to run point, Rainy is a no-brainer first pick.

2. MrCDW8023

Though not the high-volume chucker that Rainy is, MrCDW8023 is another PG who you can trust to bring the ball up the court every possession. As one of the top two men in charge of this league, it only makes sense that CDW operates with precision as a floor general. If a GM is looking to draft a double-double machine who will get everyone involved, MrCDW8023 might just be their Mr. (W)right.

3. xJuice III

Now here is someone who is always overrated, underrated, overhyped, under-the-radar, a sleeper, and a top prospect. Though he is capable of running point for any team in this league, xJuice III is more of a score-first combo guard who operates best when he is working from the 2 spot and given plenty of opportunities to create his own look off the dribble. And while many high-volume scorers are often lacking on the other end of the court, xJuice III can occasionally provide teams with some energy and production on defense. All in all, xJuice III is a top prospect whose biggest weakness (being on the west coast) is mitigated in this league filled with foreign talent, so I expect to see him in many, many highlight reels throughout this season, regardless of who picks him up.

4. Dimer DončiΔ‡

Self-proclaimed β€œDimer Doncic” has played well enough to earn the early title of Fourth Best Guard among all the Season 2 Combine players. Though some people have argued that he is β€œtakeover made,” a defensive liability, and too eager to shoot, Dimer has shown an ability to score in high volumes and find the open man at a fairly decent rate. If a GM feels he will be able to keep Dimer’s ego in check and maintain control of the team, Dimer has the resume and ability to lead a team to victory.

5. HoodieBuu-_- & DimeLord25

I found myself torn when trying to round out my list of Top 5 Guards for this group of Season 2 Combine Players players, so I decided to include both HoodieBuu-- and DimeLord25 as the 5th best guards in the draft pool as of now. I think this is fitting because both are very similar players; HoodieBuu-- is averaging 13.83ppg, 4.33apg, and 2.5 turnovers, while DimeLord25 is averaging 12ppg, 3.25apg, and 1 turnover.

To me, both of these players look like capable combo guards whose stats might only be low because of who has been on their combine teams. Neither HoodieBuu-_- nor DimeLord25 are afraid of the competition, and I believe they can easily help any team as a PG or SG. If I were a GM who played the 3-5, I might even try to draft these players together to split the ball handling duties between the two of them.

Honorable Mentions

When I made my list of Top Guards, I focused on the Season 2 Draft Eligible Combine players who were consistently playing at the level of a playoff starter. However, there are plenty of guards who have had bright spots or who have shown out in their only combine game thus far.

MySacSlangin is my first honorable mention who I think could carry a team with ease. Though he can be silly goofy at times, when the games matter, MySacSlangin is as sweaty as they come and likely won’t miss a shot.

DarknessKing25 is another honorable mention who has shown flashes of goodness as a guard in these combines, but I didn’t list him as a Top 5 Guard because of his defensive weaknesses and the fact that he is much, much better as a PF. However, if a team is looking for a secondary ball handler or occasional point guard when your starter is out, DarknessKing25 will competently fill any hole.

And JonnyFettis is someone who passes the eye test better than most. Though he has been relegated to a spot up role in these combines so far, JonnyFettis has the handles and IQ to be a high-volume secondary option on any team. If a team lets him shine, I could easily see JonnyFettis averaging 15-20 points a game on great efficiency.

Beyond these strong players, there are a handful of Season 2 Combine Eligible guards who have been great in one game, but I haven’t seen enough of them to know if they’ll be consistent. For instance, just like Ish Smith, Isolatedish is a point guard.

MrFancySauce00 and Ojdrizzylos both have played in 1 game, but each of their games showed how electric they can be. In a league with a less than ideal number of shooters to choose from, any team should be happy taking a guy who shoots 5/7 from 3 like Ojdrizzylos, and MrFancySauce00 showed he can lead a team with 20 points and 8 assists in his only performance thus far.
