Assalamu Alaykum,

Welcome to Muslim Complex Basketball for the 2022-23 season! Our season is set to begin on Sunday, December 4th, 2022 insha’Allah. Our regular season will run 10 weeks long, with the last day of playoffs being on Sunday, March 19th, 2023. Games will be played 5v5 with a maximum of 12 players per team using official college school basketball rules. We will play in an indoor gymnasium with PIAA-certified referees. Games will be played at Tredyffrin-Easttown Middle School (801 Conestoga Road, Berwyn, PA 19312).

Registration is now open and will close on November 20th, 2022. We will be accepting up to 12 teams for this season. Each team will be guaranteed 10 regular season games with a mid-season break from 12/25/22 - 1/8/23 due to court availability. Secure your spot by submitting the team deposit of $150. We encourage teams to complete registration as early as possible to ensure that jerseys arrive in time, final jersey order will be made the day after registration, and rosters will lock after week 1.

Rules
Defaulting to official college basketball rules
20 minute halves (running clock first half, clock stops in final 2 minutes of the game)
5 personal fouls per player
Team foul rules will adhere to college rules, except in the last 2 minutes
2 fouls in the last 2 minutes will override team fouls and go to the bonus, four fouls for double bonus
Teams will get 2 timeouts per half, each of 60 seconds in length
Halftime length will be at the discretion of the referee

General Rules
Games will be played following official college basketball rules, with certain exceptions (Reference)
20 minute halves with running clock in the first half. Clock will stop in final 2 minutes of the game

Team foul limits for the bonus will be overridden in the final 2 minutes of a half
2 fouls in the final 2 minutes - bonus
3 fouls in the final 2 minutes - double bonus

Per PIAA rules, games cannot be played with three (3) players or fewer. If a team fails to bring five players by 10 minutes after the scheduled game start, the team will be charged with a forfeit. Forfeit penalties are indicated below.
Conduct Rules:
Bench players will stay on the sidelines on their designated half of the court.
All spectators and guests must stand at a distance from the sidelines and away from the bench players. Taunting of players and teams will not be tolerated.
Only captains should approach the refs to discuss rules/calls.
Any fighting or physical altercations, excessive infractions & poor sportsmanship, use of bad language, harassment of the officials or players, or any other infractions deemed unnecessary and excessive by the refs and organizers may result in an ejection from the game.
The consumption, or use of any illegal substance, alcohol or any other intoxicant before, during or after the games on the property of the field/court is not permissible. This applies to all players AND their guests. Individuals in violation will result in suspensions from the league.
1-game suspension: If a player accumulates 2 technical fouls in a season, the player will be suspended for the following game. Players may also receive a one game suspension for excessive infractions, excessive use of bad language or other infractions at the discretion of the refs and organizers.
Season long suspension: If a player accumulates 2 or more 1-game suspensions, they will be suspended for the remainder of the season. Additionally, players will be automatically suspended for the season for major infractions such as Punching; Fighting ; Excessive unsportsmanlike conduct; Spitting at an opponent or any other person; Persistent use of extremely abusive language or behavior toward a Game Official; Bodily contact with a Game Official in Dissent; Field and property damage, any other violation at the discretion of the referees and commissioners.
Suspension from all Muslim Complex leagues: if player receives 2 or more season long suspensions, player will not be allowed to participate in any future Muslim Complex activities indefinitely.

Forfeit Rules:
We have implemented a forfeit policy for our games. Any forfeits must be announced before TUESDAY of the prior week (ex. If a game is played on January 22nd 2023, a captain has until midnight on Tuesday January 17th to forfeit without penalty). There will be set penalties for each offense of forfeits, please read them carefully:
• First (1st) forfeit: The team will be responsible for covering the ref fees for the game missed ($70).
• Second (2nd) forfeit: The team will be fined equal to the amount of referee fees, and team captain will face an immediate 1 game suspension
• Third (3rd) forfeit: The team will be ejected from the league without any further notice or refund of dues. They will also be responsible for the $100 forfeit fine for the remaining games for the season.
• Planned/Deliberate midseason withdrawal from the league: Any team that withdraws from any of the tournament organized by MuslimComplex will have to prove its case and will be taken up by MuslimComplex for investigation.
• Penalty for planned/deliberate withdrawal from MuslimComplex competitions could include permanent ban or suspension of all registered players under the team’s roster
