The Rookies-82 at Zero to One -46
First game of the week featured the undefeated -Rookies versus the winless-Zero to One. ZTO started off hot with a balanced attack from Leamy and Murphy(11 pts, 4 rebs, 4 assists). Leamy leading the way with 18 points and slow start from the Rookies, gave ZTO hopes for their first W.
Although unforced turnovers by Zero to One, mid-way thru the first half and Rookies PG- Neil Rusiewz(11 points, 4 rebs, 10 assist and 5 steals) pushing the ball led to a double digit lead for the Rookies. The 2nd half was much of the same as the Rookies ran the ball and out rebounded ZTO, which extends their winning streak to 3.
The Foundation-45 at The Process-54
The second game of the evening pinned the veteran team the Foundation vs the young up and coming team the Process. Viet( 15 pts) and Darrius(14 pts,15 rebs, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block) of the Foundation looked to be business as usual hitting 3 point shots and pushing the rock all night. Although the process came together as team as showed heart chipping away at the Foundation short lead.
The game was a back and forth, basket after basket with little defensive stops from both teams. The Process proved to have more energy than the older Foundation players, as well as hitting big shots by Sanchez(11 pts) and Wallace(11pts). Every time the Foundation came roaring back the young Process hit a big 3. The Process had key contributions from Rajay with 11 pts, 10 rebs and Robert Daniels with 8 pts and 10 boards.
The Foundation had 2 players fouling out in the final 2 minutes making the come back nearly impossible. Viet finished with 15 pts, 3 rebs, and a block but fouled out. Julius chipped in with 11 pts, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal but missing key game typing free throws with minutes to go. The young Process held of the Foundation for their first win this season.
Knicks-55 at Lavar's Ballers-58
The final game of the night pinned up 2 exciting teams, the hot Lavar's Ballers versus the run and gun Knicks. Lb started strong playing great team defense disrupting the Knicks guard play of Bundy(7 pts, 3 rebs,2 assists and 2 steals) and Terrelle Dobbs(7 pts, 3 rebs, 3 assists) well below their averages. Every time the Knicks guard did get past the defense they had to face the tall front line of Dan Brittingham(8 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks) and the Krmpotich brothers(Dave-16pts, 10 rebs, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block and Matt-3 pts, 9 rebs).
A slow first half by the Knicks big man Lou did not continue as he came up big in the second half going back to his inside play. The Knicks turned the tables on LB pressuring their guards especially Brian Williams(7 pts,9 assists, 1 steal) forcing him to take long 3s and the offense was truly slowed down. The Knicks came back within 3 points but LB came back with big 3s from Gary(18 pts) and second chance points by the bigs.
A huge momentum swing occurred when a Knick player received two techs and got into a verbal match with the refs. This may have cost the Knicks the big upset versus Lavar’s Ballers.
