Kitara Football Club have been crowned champions of 2022/23 StarTimes FUFA Big League season.
This comes after Sam Ssimbwa’s guns defeated Kaaro Karungi FC 1-0 during their final fixture played at Kigaaya Play Grounds on Thursday evening.
Paul Mucureezi converted from a spot kick to hand the Royals the much needed win.
Victory saw Kitara FC completed the season at the top of the log on 61 points after 30 games.
While Kaaro Karungi finished the season in the 11 position on 37 points after 30 matches.
Elsewhere NEC FC crushed Kataka FC 4-1 at Mbale Municipal stadium to be promoted to the 2023/24 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season.
NEC FC now becomes the third and final team to secure a spot in the top-tier league next season after Kitara FC and Mbarara City who sealed their spots last week as they finished top and second respectively.
