TIEBREAKER RULES:

• Teams will be seeded 1-12 for the playoff tournament based on:
1. Overall Record
2. Head-to-Head Results (Between Teams with Identical Records)
3. Head-to-Head Results (Going From Top to Bottom in the League Standings)
4. Point Differential in H2H Matchup(s)

LEAGUE RULES:

Rosters: Final rosters are due from each coach by 4 pm on July 14th, 2022. Each coach will fill out their roster on Google Sheets. All coaches must have submitted the team entry fee to the K1 church office, as well as the necessary sponsorship information (sheet and $500) for the team. If a team does not turn in the necessary information, they may be removed from the league, as uniforms will be ordered on the morning of July 15th.

Guarantee: Barring any unforeseen circumstances, every team will receive eleven regular season games, as well as entry to a single elimination postseason tournament, which will take place on November 13th and November 20th. The Round of 16 and Quarterfinal games will be played on 11/13, and the Semifinals and Finals will be played on 11/20.

Uniforms: Each team has a designated uniform, and players must wear their assigned uniform in order to play – no exceptions.

Warmup: The gym will be open to use on Sunday’s starting at 11:00 am. Teams may warmup once the game before them ends, and must be ready to tipoff at the designated start time.

Number of Players: A team must have a minimum of four players on the court at tipoff in order for a game to start, otherwise they may be subject to forfeit. If a team does not have four players on the court at the game’s designated start time, the clock will begin to run, and the opposing team will receive two points for every minute that ticks off the clock. If the team is then able to field four or more players at some point during the first half, the game will begin at that point. The clock will continue to run from that point, and the points that were added on the scoreboard will not be taken off. If the game reaches halftime and is 40-0, then it will automatically be ruled a forfeit at that point.

Game Length: Two 20-minute halves. Running clock for first half, and for the first 18 minutes of the second half. The clock will stop in the final two minutes of the second half. Whenever the clock is running continuously, it's important to note when teams are able to stop the clock/not stop the clock. Timeouts will stop the clock, until the ball is either handed from the official to the player that is inbounding the ball, or is thrown to the player at the free throw line who is shooting free throws. This means that in running clock scenarios, the clock should begin as soon as the official gives up the ball. Please note that whenever a team is winning by 15+ points, the clock may not stop in the final two minutes of the game. This is up to the discretion of the person operating the scoreboard.

Overtime: A two-minute OT period with stopped clock during the regular season. Subsequent two-minute OT periods will be played as necessary. Five-minute OT periods during the playoffs. During the regular season, teams do not receive any additional timeouts during OT. In the playoffs, teams receive one timeout per extra period.

Timeouts: Each team receives three 45-second timeouts per game. The clock stops during these. Note that if a team calls a timeout before a player shoots free throws (when not in the final two minutes of the game), the clock will start as soon as the ball is given to the player who is at the free throw line, and his ten second count will begin from there. The same rule applies to an inbounds pass (when not in the final two minutes of the game). As soon as the official hands the ball to the player, the clock will begin, even if the player does not inbound the ball immediately.

Substitutions: Substitutions will be allowed on dead balls, per college rules. All players checking into the game must check-in at the scorer's table beforehand.

Benches: The only people allowed on a team's bench during the game are the head coach, assistant coach, team sponsors, and any players that are on the official roster. Friends and family are not allowed on the bench during a game. Any team who violates this may be subject to a technical foul, and any people that are not allowed on the bench, may be removed by K1 Sports Staff or officials at any point. Please note that only a team's head coach, asistant coach, or acting head coach (in the event that the head coach is absent) may talk to the scorer's table. We do not want players warming the scorer's table when there are disputes. Please let the scorer's table work with the officiating crew, and then all decisions will be relayed to each team's coaching staff.

Language: Inappropriate language will not be tolerated in the K1 League. Players/teams are subject to technical fouls for the use of inappropriate language. In past seasons, many officials have assigned a language warning to the team after the first offense, but it's important to note that they are NOT required to do this. They are encouraged to point out inappropriate language (especially swearing) the first time that they hear it, and assign a technical foul to that player.

Technical Fouls: If a player receives two technical fouls, he will be disqualified from the current contest, and could be subject to further discipline from the league, including suspension or even removal from the league. This decision will be made by the league commissioner, as he may consulate with members of the officiating crew, scorer’s table, and/or pastoral staff. At any point, K1 Sports reserves the right to fine, suspend, or remove players from the league due to inappropriate conduct. Players who receive two technical fouls in a game, are disqualified from the contest, must immediately leave the bench. Please note that beginning in January of 2023, any players that receive two technical fouls and are disqualified from a game, will so be required to sit out the team's next contest as well. This change will be made in order to be consistent with rules from men's college basketball.

Fines: A player who receives three technical fouls in a season must pay $25 to the league before the start of his team's next game, or the team forfeits. A fourth technical will cost that player $50, and a fifth technical will cost the player $100. If a player receives more than five technical fouls in a season, he will be suspended for the team's next contest. Any other fines that the league issues will be communicated to both the player and the coach. All individual fines must be paid before the team's next contest or the team may be subject to forfeit.

Dunking: In-game dunking is allowed. Dunking before games or during timeouts/halftime is not allowed. Players that break this rule may be subject to a team technical foul, as K1 Sports aims to protect their hoops and facility over the course of a long season.

Jump Balls: There will be a jump ball to start the first half and each new overtime period.

College Rules: Shot clocks are 30 seconds, resetting to 20 seconds. Free throws will be played on the release, meaning the shooter, and any other player that is behind the three-point arc, may not cross the line in front of them until the ball touches the rim. Any other decisions or rules on gameplay, that have not been specified here, will be governed by men's college basketball rules.

Championship Players: Any players who are on the roster of the championship team for the 2022 Fall K1 League, will receive discounted entry towards the 2023 Spring K1 League. The entry fee for any returning players (that were on the championship team's roster) will only have to pay $25 per person. This will cover the cost of their uniform. Please note that the coach of that team will still be required to find a $500 season sponsor.
